Senot Sangadji inaugurated as full professor

Today Senot Sangadji was inaugurated as full professor at the Universiy Sebelas Maret in Indonesia. Senot finished his PhD in our group in 2015 on self-healing concrete by making use of porous networks to transport healing agents in concrete structural elements.

The topics that Senot will work on in the future in Indonesia are SMARTCrete & SMARTQuake in the Center of Studies on Eartquake Engineering.

We congratuale Senot with this new achievement and wish him all the best for his future career.

ZDF-tv-program on self-healing concrete

Tomorrow February 15th, there will be a TV-show on German TV (ZDF) that is dealing with Self-healing concrete. In the program you can see some shots that we took inside our lab, outside at the construction site of the tram-project at the campus and also at the premisses of Basilisk (where they produce the self-healing agent with Bacteria).

Self-healing SHCC

For the tram-project at the TU-Delft campus, we designed the top layer in such a way that the SHCC should crack in a zone above a construction joint in the base concrete. Here we incorporated shear keys and we delaminated the two layers in between. The SHCC should and does crack, but the bacteria (Basilisk) we added to the mix heal the crack. In the right picture you see that it works! The principle of the self-healing strain hardening cementitious composite was developed within the SMARTINCS project. The project team (Shan He, Mladena Lukovic, Henk Jonkers and Erik Schlangen) is inspecting the progress.

Casting tram-concrete

Today is the casting of the 4th segment of the self-healing-strain hardening cementitious composite-top layer for the tram-track at our campus.

Yesterday Anne Linde van Overmeir defended her PhD-thesis on 3D concrete printing. She did a great job, which means we have a new Dr. Congratulations! You can download her thesis from the people-tab.

Bio-Based Concrete Luleå
