3D concrete printing conference Hong Kong

This week I am attending the 3D concrete printing conference in Hong Kong. The conference is in the Science Centre and tomorrow morning I will be giving a Plenary lecture in this golden egg that you see on the picture behind Prof. Yamei Zhang from Southeast University and myself.

Visit to DTU

Today we visited DTU where we got to see the 'concrete'-labs and we had a discussion and presentation on research at DTU and TUD. Afterwards Prof. Ole Mejlhede Jensen took us on a tour around Copenhagen to see concrete-architecture. Some highlights are in the pictures below.

Fehmarnbelt tunnel

Today we visited with the board of SKKB the Fehmarnbelt tunnel project in Denmark. What an impressive project.

Dr Ameya Kamat

Ameya Kamat defended his PhD-thesis today. It was a great session. He nailed it! Well done Ameya and congratulations. The thesis on "Improving salt weathering resistance of hydraulic mortars with an encapsulated crystallisation inhibitor" can be found here

Frank finished his MSc thesis

Frank van der Hoeven had this week his MSc thesis defense. The topic he investigated is "Crack Width of Reinforced Concrete under Combined Imposed Deformation and Mechanical Loading". He used the small TSTM-setup that Minfei Liang developed during his PhD and incorporated rebars into the concrete specimens. He studied the effect of autogenous and thermal shrinkage on the crack width that develops in early age reinforced concrete. You can download his thesis here.
